‘Sensory override’ is a term for uncanny used by Luhrmann. For her it includes “those odd moments when you hear voice when you are alone, or you see something that isn’t there – not in a-table-and-chairs kind of way – or when you feel or taste or smell the immaterial” (Luhrmann 2011, 73–74; see also Blackman 2012).
